Reduce your risk with our risk reduction webinar

Protecting your practice from fraud and abuse is one of your biggest concerns. That’s why we’re bringing you our November webinar series, Reducing Fraud and Abuse Risk in Pharmacies.

We kick off November 3 with The False Claims Act and Pharmacies — it tells pharmacists how to lower the risk of an FCA investigation or liability. It starts at 7:30 and costs just $20. To find out more, go to GPhA.org/cpeasy.

Spa, resort, and pharmacy

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the 2017 Southeastern Girls of Pharmacy Leadership Weekend: January 13-15, 2017 at the Omni Grove Park Inn in beautiful Asheville, N.C.

Last year saw more than 240 girls from 10 states join in, and this year promises to be even bigger. Besides the top-notch program with amazing speakers, the organizers promise “plenty of time for spa appointments.”

Open enrollment: Make sure you’re getting the most from your GPhA benefits

The GPhA benefits open enrollment period begins on Monday, October 24 — that’s for all members who are currently insured, and those groups or individuals interested in choosing one of the several benefits options we will have available in the plan.

We’ll have a lot of plans and we are crafting some fantastic benefits programs to choose from that are designed to fit almost any coverage situation.

We’re still working out the details of those medical, dental, vision, and life options right now, and we’ll have them more to share for with you by then. In the meantime, watch this space (and your inbox) for more information in the next few days.

What to say when you meet your legislator for coffee this autumn (and why it matters!)

GPhA’s Legislative Policy Committee meets this week to discuss a range of pharmacy issues and to recommend to the Board of Directors a handful of legislative priorities for the 2017 legislative session.

Once those issues are set – sometime in mid-October – we’ll be sharing talking points with you and asking you to meet in-person with your state senator and state representative and brief them on our legislation BEFORE they head to Atlanta for the session, which begins in early January.

Invite them to your pharmacy or take them for coffee. The important thing is that they hear from you, their constituent, because you’re a much better and more compelling lobbyist for issues that affect your business than GPhA’s lobbying team can be on its own.

To help prepare you for that task, we teamed up last year with the College of Pharmacy at UGA to produce a couple of instructional videos. Those videos are still timely.

One, which you’ll find here, is a reminder about the importance of your grassroots efforts to keep your legislators informed.

The other, linked here, is a role-playing example of how to be effective when you speak with your legislator – what to say and how to use his or her time well.

Take a look…and be ready to make contact with your elected officials when we send you talking points later this fall.

[ DISCLAIMER – The actors in these videos will not be quitting their day jobs and moving to Hollywood anytime soon. ]
